As a Dutch study group we’ve been having regular meetings since late 2024. But lately I’ve been getting some requests from people abroad interested in the topic of cybernetics and labour time accounting. Since we convene in Dutch, these are usually not a good fit. But it might be time to start an international study group on this subject, if people are interested.
So, this topic is first of all here to answer the question: who would like to participate in such project?
The second question is how to meet? Discord would be my preferred way as it has pretty good AV capabilities, but we could go with other solutions, like the INDEP Zoom facilities (if that’s possible).
The third question would then be what to study. Our Dutch group is now in the finishing part of Brain of the Firm, by Stafford Beer, but we also read Foundational Principles of Communist Production and Distribution, by Jan Appel,The People’s Republic of Walmart, by Leigh Phillips, and Designing Freedom, by Stafford Beer. For our upcoming books we’re planning on Heart of the Enterprise, by Stafford Beer, and Sustainable self-governance in businesses and society, by Angela Espinosa. It could be any one of these or other suggestions of course.
